SLGS Handicap Adjustment Policy
The committee has agreed to introduce a simple SLGS Handicap Adjustment System. The objective of this adjustment is to ensure that our competitions remain attractive, fair, competitive, and enjoyable for members of all abilities.SLGS will continue to use each player’s official MyEG Handicap Index as the starting point. This will be adjusted further taking into account how members perform at competitions organised by SLGS annually. Our adjustments will only apply to SLGS competitions. It will not affect a player’s official MyEG Handicap Index.
Introduction
The new SLGS Handicap Adjustment System will come into effect from our next Society event.
As this is the first time we are introducing the system, we will review each member’s last two SLGS competition rounds and apply any necessary SLGS Handicap adjustments before the next event.
SLGS Handicap Adjustments
The following deductions will apply based on a player’s Stableford score:

| 43 points or more | -3 shots |
| 40–42 points | -2 shots |
| 37–39 points | -1 shot |
Handicap Restoration
If a player completes three consecutive SLGS competition rounds without receiving any further handicap deductions, their SLGS Handicap will automatically revert to their official MyEG Handicap Index.
Handicap Review
The Committee reserves the right to review the SLGS Handicap of any member whose official handicap may not accurately reflect their playing ability. This may include players who:
- play only a limited number of qualifying rounds; or
- consistently return very low Stableford scores (for example, below 25 points).
Any such review will be carried out fairly and consistently by the Committee.
Submitting General Play Scores
The Committee strongly encourages all members to submit their General Play scores to MyEG on the day they play.
Regular score submissions help ensure that Handicap Indexes remain current, with newer scores naturally replacing older ones over time. This provides a more accurate reflection of each player’s current playing ability and reduces the need for Society Handicap adjustments.
